Thank God for internet access to journal articles!!!!!

So every weekend, us Hotpanted and Hotstuffed people have decided to give thanks to God instead of our usual rantings. So I am going to take this opportunity to thank God for internet access to journal articles. I am currently working on a proposal, last minute naturally, and without this blessed library tool called remote access I would be up shits creak without a paddle. So thank you, thank you, thank you God for this beautiful thing called remote access to the library and thank you even more library people who make most of the journal articles I need accessible through the interwebs from the comforts of my own home! I <3 you!

1 quarter short?!

getting ready to go out of town, clothes are in the washer and i am 1 quarter short for the dryer! i found quarters in every nook and cranny of my place, every quarter but 1! is this a lesson to stop leaving things to the last minute or a way to get me to the local drug store to buy some needed dish-washing soap...

speaking of last minute and drug store items... check out how still resident bush is trying to make BIRTH CONTROL EQUAL TO ABORTION, and do something about it...

Harvey Milk?

so today is the 30th anniversary of the shooting at San Francisco City Hall that struck down the first openly gay politician to be elected to public office in California (not to mention the other person killed that day was one of the most liberal mayors in the city's history). In a time where gay rights are still being shot down all around the country (hello Prop 8 and the various anti-gay laws that have been enacted in the past month) it makes me sad to think that 30 years later there are still people out there who think that they are somehow superior and more righteous in their ways. Does having a different lifestyle really make one person better than another? Are people who are different from you necessarily evil and thus do not deserve to be given the same rights? Does their happiness really affect your life so much that you need to blatantly discriminate against them? I mean seriously, WTF?

If you want to read up more about the amazing story of Harvey Milk and the movie that was just made about his life, here are a couple of links:
